This is the poster and press release for
‘Fresh’ – new jewellery exhibition
February 1- 28
Stunning contemporary jewellery can be seen at ConneXion Gallery, upstairs at the Arts Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand during February. ‘Fresh’ combines the work of six jewellery artists and highlights four lovely new designs made by Deanna Gracie. Deanna designs and creates her naturally New Zealand inspired jewellery from her home studio in the beautiful beachside suburb of Southshore, Christchurch. Delicate flower and leaf forms pierced from softly textured silver are set against vibrantly coloured, indigo blue titanium. Made from her heart and with her hand, Deanna’s ‘Regeneration’ pieces are inspired by the freshness of new beginnings and how magical things found in nature can keep life in perspective.
‘A mighty tree casts cool shadows against the clear blue sky.
Vibrant colours create joy in the silent garden.
A bird bursts into song.
My spirit soars’
Deanna Gracie

We spent a wonderful day walking around Duvauchelles Bay to the site of the old Maori Pa at Onawe – did a lot of beach fossicking and I found this rusty old object with a hole through it….still continuing this theme – I seem to be attracted to objects like this.
old rusty object battered by sun, wind and rain…I pick it up, peep through the hole…. and see another land….

Look what I found sitting on the window inside the conservatory this morning! It wasn’t such a good spot for this wee fellow’s natural camouflage. He (or she) blended beautifully back into the foliage of the rose bush when we carefully carried him back outside. He must have been hungry as he looked like he was nibbling one of the petals : – )
long skinny legs….he sways to and fro….reticulated insect….with his garden camouflage….

I found this small dried plant on the beach last month – when I took this macro image today a feather appeared so small to my eye I hadn’t noticed it before!
small dried twisted root with hidden treasure…..in amongst it’s folds a tiny feather….

Wow – I looked up to the sky today and saw an amazing vapour trail. The white against the clear blue Summer sky looked stunning – this twisted vapour trail image is my favourite one : – )
Blue sky…soft cotton wool vapour trail…. it twists then slowly dissipates…I want this sight to last forever so I take a photograph…..
